Joss has been teaching piano, theory harmony, composition and improvisation for over 10 years, to people from all walks of life with diverse musical interests, from beginners to advanced. He teaches privately and in institutions such as Longhill Secondary and BHASVIC Sixth Form College.
Joss is a patient and perceptive teacher who skilfully adapts lessons to meet the needs, abilities and enthusiasms of his pupils. He manages to make learning as relaxed and fun as his somewhat jocular taste in day-wear.

Joss has been very effective at helping me to develop my technique as a jazz pianist. Through exploring the numerous harmonic 'modes' and harmonies of jazz he has helped me to improve and enrich my own interpretations of pieces. He brings the best out of my own style and way of playing. Together we have been working towards an audition for the jazz course at Guildhall.

Joss has holped so much towards my GCSE. I have learnt a great deal from his musical wisdom. I have also enjoyed the jazz. A great teacher and musician. Thanks Joss!
Josh Ewell, GCSE student.
Joss has been teaching me jazz piano for about six months and over that time I have improved quite a lot. I've surprised myself with how I am developing my playing. I really enjoy the lessons and I love Joss' method of teaching. He has also introduced me to a whole new range of musical styles, mainly jazz influenced. Overall, it's been a blast and I've loved having lessons with Joss.

Grabbing your interest and tuning in to your learrning strengths are key challenges for music teaching. Joss has achieved both these with me and created a personally suited approach. Through the tuition I have taken with Joss I have found inspiration and momentum to discover what I can achieve with the piano. He is great at balancing acquisition of knowledge with personal need to discover the piano for oneself. I recommend him highly.

Joss has really supported me with preparing my A-level performance pieces, and helped me with composition ideas for my band. Cheers!
Skye Tansey, 18, A-level music student.
I met Joss in a concert and I was impressed by his piano playing and asked him to teach me jazz piano. I have been playing piano for about 20 years but mainly classical music. Joss has taught me jazz music from scratch, basic chords, jazzy rhythm, giving me some music and so on. I have been trying to learn my favourite song by ear recently. Joss helped me to complete this song, teaching me specific chords. I really enjoy learning jazz music with Joss. Joss teaches me not only how to play the piano but also how to enjoy playing the piano - I'm interested in Jazz music more than ever!

I've just started working with Joss to get some harmony ideas to help me out of a rut with the computer-based ambient /dance music I write. So far so good, and he doesn't hit my knuckles with a ruler for getting it wrong, like my last teacher did!

As a mature returning pupil I wanted to take up jazz improvisation lessons having been taught classically for a few years in my childhood. I had a personal recommendation for Joss Peach via the Brighton music scene and he is brilliant. Joss is highly knowledgeable, knows his theory inside out and is unique in that he lets you take charge of your own learning. Making music with him is a pleasure and he introduces new territories to explore when you are ready. He has helped me move on from reading sheet music to having the confidence to use my ears to improvise as I get to grip with jazz structures. I recommend Joss highly. Hanko Van Beinum
I was a bit anxious aboutlearning piano from scratch as an adult, but Joss' unhurried friendly approach has made it really easy and fun. Jodie Stacey, 35, massage therapist
